Run Buddy Run Nike+ Challenge:
In the spirit of WE RUN, Nike will launch the Run Buddy Run Nike+ Challenge to celebrate the motivational aspect of running with a buddy! Running has long been referred to as a personal endeavour, but despite the individual nature of the sport, running is an intensely communal pursuit too. The Run Buddy Run Nike+ Challenge takes on the idea of run clubs, training groups and community to broaden the appeal of physical running into the virtual world. Driven through Nike Running Philippines Facebook page and the Nike+ platform, the challenge will see pairs of run buddies race it out to win a VIP Race Day Experience at the We Run Manila 10K, and other Nike prizes.

Challenge mechanics below:
1. Visit Nike Running Philippines Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NikeRunningPH and check out the WE RUN MANILA 10K tab.
2. Click on RUN BUDDY RUN and sign up with your run buddy.
3. Once you’ve joined the challenge with your run buddy, lace up your running shoes and hit the road!
4. Sync your KMs to Nike+ and follow the daily leader board updates on the Nike Running Philippines Facebook page.

Run Rizal, September 18, 2011- Race Day Pics

This morning, September 18, 2011, the Jose Rizal 150th Birthday Commemorative Run or Run Rizal was held at the Rizal Park, Manila.

Though not feeling well due to common colds and sore throat, I decided to run my third 16K. This was not my first time to run despite of not being 100% on good condition, the first time was last year during the Run for Pasig River (October 10, 2010) and last May 22, 2011 at the Greentennial Half Marathon.

With Rexie before the 16K gun start
The beautiful emcees during the pre-race program
At the start of the race, I was perked up and ready to rumble. I felt good during the first 5 kilometers, but then suddenly I got an upset stomach and I carried that all the way back to the 2 kilometers.

Taken while walking with upset stomach, ouch
My unofficial time for 16K this time is 1:46, almost the same with my time at the Takbo.ph Runfest last July 2011 in a much harder route at Mc Kinley Hill.

With Ma'am Ayen at the Finish Line
I would like to welcome back Ma'am Ayen, her last race was last October 2010 at the Run for Pasig River. Ma'am Ayen and yours truly had our first run during the Globe Run for Home last March 2010 when running was not yet a fever here in Manila.

With Sam at the Rizal Monument
Also welcome back to running Sam! His last run was at the Greentennial Half Marathon last May 22, 2011 at the Aseana City, Diosdado Macapagal Avenue. Keep it up!

With Sir Jojo wearing my new PF Shirt
At last, I was able to grab one Pinoy Fitness tech shirt during the Run Rizal this morning. Love it!

For more Run Rizal race day pics, please visit my FB account or click HERE.

See you on the road guys!

Run Rizal on September 18, 2011- My Race Kit

More than a week to go before the Run Rizal and I just registered for my third 16K run this year at Phiten, Shangri-la Mall last Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Also, I do not have any training after my last run (21K) which was during Run United leg 2 on August 21st. Life has been so busy that I cannot find time to have some run, but I hope I can still make a good time this Sunday especially that the route is not that hard compared to my last 16K during the Takbo.ph Runfest at Mc Kinley Hill.

My Singlet, Bib Number and Timing Chip
For the following months, I planned to run a commercial race only once a month. This is to accommodate other schedules aside from budgetary constraints.

See you on the road guys! Keep on running!!!

Powerhouse race directors Eric Emperio (10K), Thumbie Remigio (3K and 5K) and Rio Dela Cruz (21K) will join forces to make this momentous event happen on the said date. The 21K distance is closed to public and will be participated by KBPIP sponsors and partners, and will go around Metro Manila passing by Estero de Paco where the rehabilitation of Pasig River was made.

I know there has been questions on where the funding for last year went!? Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig was able to give us some rehabilitation photos of Estero de Paco for everyone to see the progress that has been made for only a year.

Cleaning Pasig River is no easy task, but the Foundation was able to give a definite timeline and a systematic way on how to attack the problem, in their statement, in 2012 they are targeting the U-BELT area, 2013 would be QC/San Juan/Makati, 2014 would focus on Tondo and Marikina, 2015 is in Laguna, and finally in 2016 – Manila Bay!

Sounds Impossible?! Probably, but i will surely be impossible without your support. I believe in hope at looking into a future where once a majestic Pasig River was clean and alive.

Handa ka na bang muling mag Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig ngayong 2011!?
