My First Solo 34K LSD on January 23, 2012

Along University Avenue, UP Diliman
In celebration of Chinese New Year, January 23 was declared special non-working day so I took the opportunity to have my Long Slow Distance (LSD) training for my upcoming second Full Marathon.

The night before, I have to decide on what route to take, either from Sta. Mesa to UP Diliman and back or KM Zero to Coastal Mall and back. The first route prevailed as I opted to proceed to UP Diliman :-)

Because I woke up late, I started my first solo 34K LSD at 5:23 AM from our apartment in Santol, Quezon City. I arrived at UP Diliman at around 7AM, done 5 loops of the UP Academy Oval which measures 2.2KM.

Then I proceeded back home, passing through the same route, UP to QC Circle, Quezon Avenue then left turn to Araneta Avenue, straight ahead back home :-)

Taken along QC Elliptical Circle
I finished my first solo 34K LSD at 9:31AM, with a time of 4:08H but I had a hard time during my last 3 kilometers as I almost encounter leg cramps. I decided to walk all throughout the last stretch of Araneta Avenue to avoid worsening my cramps.
All in all, I had a great time running my new route. See you on the road guys!
